General Recommendation for the Award of Credit
This General Recommendation for the Award of Credit is published by the project Kompetenzbereich Anrechnung of the Carl
von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg. The compilation of this General Recommendation occured in cooperation with the
Wolfgang Schulenberg-Institut für Bildungsforschung und Erwachsenenbildung (ibe). The responsibility for the contents of this Recom-
mendation for the Award of Credit is assumed by the Kompetenzbereich Anrechnung.
Kompetenzbereich
Anrechnung
The Kompetenzbereich Anrechnung at the
Carl von Ossietzky University Olden-
burg is promoted as part of the model
project Offene Hochschule Niedersachsen
by the Lower Saxonian Ministry for Sci-
ence and Culture. Central target of this
project is to improve the collaboration
between institutions of higher educa-
tion and providers of adult education
in Lower Saxony.
This is to be achieved through:
ƒ ƒ the compilation of general recom-
mendations for improving recogniti-
on and award of credit of advanced
training programmes,
ƒ ƒ the support of the providers of adult
education in the quality develop-
ment of their offerings,
ƒ ƒ the improvement of advanced trai-
ning through modularisation and
focus on learning outcomes.

bildung (ibe)
The Wolfgang Schulenberg-Institut für Bil-
dungsforschung und Erwachsenenbildung
(ibe) (Wolfgang Schulenberg Institu-
te of Educational Research and Adult
Education) was founded in 1986 by
members of the Carl von Ossietzky
University Oldenburg and representa-
tives of adult education associations
in Lower Saxony.
The institute considers itself as a re-
search and service centre at the inter-
face of vocational training and acade-
mic research. Since the end of 2005
the institute is engaged in the accredi-
tation and award of credit of learning
outcomes of vocational training for
tertiary education programmes.
